Stereographics: Graphic Design in Three-Dimensions

Looking at installation design stereographics is full of beautiful images of interactive three-dimensional graphic design. I selected a few images of interest that I wanted to work with. I am looking at creating something ideally to be photographed and installed within the shop window space. A couple of question I have found I needed to look at were:

+ Materials? What and why?
+ Interactivity? Like the interactive window displays created by philips do i need to create a design that involves the passer-by? If so, how?
+ Typographic/Image based?
+ Colour scheming? A/W Traditional colour pallets, appeal to a larger audience?
